Wellbeing Workshop

Indigenous wellbeing through a Māori  lens, or hauora, is built on a holistic framework encompassing the physical, spiritual, family, and mental dimensions of health. Delivered within the culturally rich environment of a marae (traditional meeting place), these practices offer an immersive experience that fosters personal growth, community connection, and cultural identity. This service is proudly offered by Wolfgramm Holdings, empowering organisations and communities to engage deeply with Māori traditions.

The marae provides a safe and inclusive space where participants can embrace mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) while fostering connections to themselves, others, and the environment. Wellbeing practices such as karakia (prayers), waiata (songs), storytelling, and group discussions strengthen spiritual and emotional health while promoting whanaungatanga (relationships). Shared meals, collective learning, and intergenerational knowledge transfer create an atmosphere of unity and respect.

Research highlights the effectiveness of wellbeing programs delivered in culturally significant spaces like marae, with participants reporting increased engagement, resilience, and understanding of their cultural heritage. Wolfgramm Holdings ensures these experiences are tailored to meet the unique needs of organisations and their people, leaving lasting impacts on both individuals and teams.

By offering this service, Wolfgramm Holdings enables organisations to experience holistic wellbeing while honoring and integrating Māori values into their journey toward excellence

The haka is a traditional Māori posture dance that powerfully conveys emotion, identity, and storytelling. Known for its synchronized movements, forceful chanting, and striking facial expressions, the haka is more than a performance—it is a deeply symbolic expression of unity, strength, and cultural pride.

Historically, the haka was performed by warriors before battle to demonstrate strength, intimidate opponents, and call on spiritual support. Over time, its use has expanded to include diverse occasions such as welcoming guests, celebrating milestones, honoring individuals, and unifying groups. Each haka is unique, with its words and movements tailored to convey a specific purpose or message.

Participating in or experiencing a haka provides a profound connection to Māori culture, fostering understanding and respect. For leaders and organisations, learning and performing the haka can inspire teamwork, cultural inclusivity, and a shared sense of purpose. It becomes a transformative tool for bringing people together and aligning them toward common goals.

Words to Waiata

This immersive cultural experience begins with a heartfelt welcome onto a marae through a pōwhiri, a traditional Māori ceremony of encounter. The kai karanga (welcome call) and kaikōrero (speaker) set the stage for the day, providing a meaningful introduction to the marae’s heritage and cultural significance.

Participants then engage in a cultural workshop tailored to your organisation. A skilled composer collaborates with the group to create a unique waiata (song) that reflects your organization’s values, vision, and identity. The group learns and performs the chorus of the waiata on the same day, fostering unity and a shared sense of pride. The full waiata, including its verses, is digitally distributed to all staff, enabling every team member to learn it at their own pace.

This waiata offers a versatile and enduring legacy for your organisation. It can be used to welcome new staff, add authenticity to award ceremonies, and even become your official organisational song, uniting all employees under a shared cultural expression.

To add further value to your organisation the pōwhiri to the waiata performance, can be professionally recorded. This video legacy content serves as a memorable keepsake and a powerful marketing asset for your website and social media platforms. This experience fosters cultural inclusivity, teamwork, and an authentic connection to Māori traditions that resonates throughout your organisation.
